This summary is for convenience. The full policy below explains the details.
1. Who we are
AI Without Worry (“AI Without Worry,” “we,” “us” or “our”) is operated by Kylen Griffin, 514 Americas Way PMB 20341, Box Elder, SD 57719, United States. We publish educational articles, a weekly email newsletter and related resources at aiwithoutworry.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect personal information when you visit the Site, subscribe to our newsletter, contact us or otherwise interact with us (together, our “Services”).
By using our Services, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use our Services.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Newsletter and free guide sign-ups: your email address and, if you choose to provide it, your first name.
- Messages to us: your name, email address and anything you include when you email us, reply to a newsletter or send us a question or a suspicious message for review.
- Comments: if you comment on an article, the name, email address and website (optional) you enter, along with your comment.
- Workshops, events and purchases (if offered): the information you provide to register or buy, such as your name, email address and billing details. Payments are handled by our payment processor. We do not receive or store full card numbers.
Please do not send us sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, bank or card numbers, passwords, medical information or account login details, even when asking about a possible scam. If a suspicious message contains this kind of information, remove it before forwarding it to us.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage information: when you visit the Site, our hosting provider collects technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring website, pages viewed and the date and time of your visit. We use this in aggregate to understand which articles are helpful and to keep the Site secure.
- Email engagement information: our email service records whether a newsletter was delivered and opened and which links were clicked, using small tracking images and tracked links. We use this to improve our emails and to remove inactive addresses.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 6.
Information from others
If someone forwards our newsletter to you, or if you interact with our social media pages, we may receive limited information such as your public profile name. We do not buy personal information from data brokers.
3. How we use your information
- To send you the newsletter, the free guide and other emails you have asked for.
- To respond to your questions and messages.
- To operate, maintain, secure and improve the Site and our content, including understanding which topics readers find most useful.
- To deliver workshops, events or products you sign up for or purchase, if offered.
- To prevent spam, fraud and abuse.
- To comply with legal obligations and to enforce our Terms of Use.
We may write articles inspired by reader questions. If we do, we will not publish your name or other details that identify you without your permission.
We do not use your personal information for profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not use automated decision-making technology to make significant decisions about you.
4. How we share your information
We share personal information only as described below.
- Service providers who process information on our behalf and under contracts that limit their use of it, including:
- Kit (formerly ConvertKit), our email newsletter platform
- Automattic (WordPress.com and Jetpack), which hosts the Site, provides site statistics and filters comment spam
- Google (Google Workspace), which provides our business email
- Productivity and AI writing tools we use to organize reader questions and draft content
- A payment processor, if we offer paid products
- Legal and safety reasons: when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, subpoena or court order, or is necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of our readers, us or others.
- Business transfers: if AI Without Worry is sold, merged or transferred, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. The new owner must honor this Privacy Policy for information collected under it.
- With your permission: in any other case, only with your consent.
5. No selling, no targeted advertising
We do not sell personal information, and we have not sold personal information in the past 12 months. We do not “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising (as those terms are defined under California law) and do not process personal information for targeted advertising (as defined under other state laws). We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information, such as precise geolocation, government ID numbers, financial account credentials, health information, or information about racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or citizenship status. If you include such information in a message to us, we use it only to respond to you and then delete it.
Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) or similar opt-out preference signal, we treat it as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising for that browser, even though we do not engage in those activities.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. Our hosting provider, WordPress.com, uses cookies and similar technologies that are needed to run the Site, remember comment details if you choose, prevent spam and measure visits in aggregate. Our email platform uses tracking images and links in emails, as described in Section 2. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not allow advertising networks to track you on our Site.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the Site work. To limit email tracking, you can set your email program to not load images automatically.
Do Not Track: some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. Because there is no common industry standard for responding to these signals, the Site does not currently respond to them. We do honor Global Privacy Control signals as described in Section 5.
7. Our emails
We send marketing and newsletter emails only to people who have signed up. Every email includes our mailing address and an unsubscribe link, and we process unsubscribe requests promptly, within 10 business days at most. After you unsubscribe, we may still send you messages you specifically request, such as a reply to your question or a receipt for a purchase.
8. How long we keep information
- Subscriber information: for as long as you are subscribed. After you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on a suppression list so we do not email you again, and delete your other subscriber information within 12 months.
- Messages you send us: up to 2 years after our last exchange, unless we need them longer for a legal reason.
- Comments: for as long as the comment remains published, or until you ask us to remove it.
- Purchase records (if any): for as long as required by tax and accounting laws, typically 7 years.
- Site usage information: according to our hosting provider’s retention settings, and only in aggregate in our reports.
9. How we protect information
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), two-factor authentication on our accounts, limited access to subscriber data, and reputable service providers with their own security programs. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a security breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.
10. Your privacy rights
Many U.S. states give residents specific privacy rights. To keep things simple and fair, we offer the following rights to all readers in the United States, regardless of where you live and whether or not a state law requires it:
- Right to know and access: to confirm whether we process your personal information, and to receive the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have about you, the sources, our purposes, and the categories of parties we disclose it to.
- Right to a copy (portability): to receive your personal information in a portable, readily usable format.
- Right to correct: to ask us to fix inaccurate personal information.
- Right to delete: to ask us to delete personal information we collected from or about you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Right to opt out: of the sale or sharing of personal information, targeted advertising and significant profiling. We do not do any of these, but you may still submit a request.
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information to what is necessary to provide the Services.
- Right to a list of third parties: to receive a list of the specific third parties (or categories, where permitted) to which we have disclosed personal information.
- Right to non-discrimination: we will not deny you service, charge you a different price or provide a different quality of service because you exercised your rights.
- Right to appeal: if we decline your request, you may appeal our decision as described below.
How to make a request
Email hello@aiwithoutworry.com with the subject line “Privacy Request,” or write to us at 514 Americas Way PMB 20341, Box Elder, SD 57719. Tell us which right you want to use and the email address you used with us. To unsubscribe from emails, you can also simply click the unsubscribe link in any email.
Verification: to protect your information, we will verify your request, usually by confirming you control the email address on file. We will not ask for more information than we need, and we use information provided for verification only for that purpose.
Authorized agents: you may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. We may ask the agent for proof of your signed permission and may ask you to verify your identity directly, unless the agent has a valid power of attorney. Parents or legal guardians may make requests on behalf of a minor child.
Response time: we will confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we may extend this by up to an additional 45 days and will tell you why. Requests are free, though we may decline or charge a reasonable fee for requests that are clearly unfounded, excessive or repetitive, as permitted by law.
Appeals: if we decline to take action on your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision or emailing hello@aiwithoutworry.com with the subject line “Privacy Appeal” within a reasonable time after our decision. We will respond in writing within 45 days, explaining what we did and why. If you are not satisfied with the result of your appeal, you may contact your state Attorney General.
